Small, steady habits for a healthier you
Sleep, movement, food, rest and gratitude: small daily habits do more for your wellbeing than big plans you can't keep.
Understanding it
Your mind and body are closely linked. Poor sleep, skipped meals and long hours sitting can make stress and low moods harder to handle.
You don't need to change everything at once. Pick one small habit, attach it to something you already do, and track it until it becomes automatic.
You might notice
- Feeling tired even after a full night
- Skipping meals or eating on the run
- Long days without moving much
- Screens right up to bedtime
- Little time for rest or the things you enjoy
What helps
- 01
Same sleep time
Going to bed and waking at the same time, even at weekends, steadies energy and mood.
- 02
Move every day
Walk, stretch, dance or play. Twenty to thirty minutes adds up.
- 03
Eat regular meals
Plenty of water, fruit and vegetables, and fewer sugary drinks.
- 04
Screen-free wind-down
Put your phone away thirty minutes before sleep.
- 05
Practise gratitude
Name three good things before bed. It trains the mind to notice them.
- 06
Stack your habits
Tie a new habit to an old one: "After I brush my teeth, I will stretch for two minutes."
Try this now
The two-minute start
- Choose one habit you'd like to build.
- Shrink it to a version that takes two minutes, like one page, one push-up or one glass of water.
- Pick a cue: after something you already do every day.
- Do it today, then tick it off in your journal.
- Repeat tomorrow. Grow it only once it feels easy.
